The Real Value of Strategic Planning

I know some of you are so involved in fighting fires that you believe there is no time to develop a strategic plan. Some of you may take into consideration the long-term planning a waste of time. Some believe that the long-term planning is what you are going to do after lunch and some may even believe that there is no value in strategic planning, because as owner / CEO you know what it takes to be successful and all employees need to do is listen to you.

Hello, could be wrong! You may need to be part of this century. Times have changed, the leadership has evolved. The days of "Lone Wolf" leader at the top who dominates with power are gone. Successful organizations are held by individuals passed through the evolutionary process of leadership. They understand that today's leaders must create a change in the organization to meet the needs of their customers, to meet the needs of their employees and to meet the needs of its vendor partners. It is a particular change of the life cycle.

Strategic planning is a platform for change

Strategic planning is a key process that regulates the direction of an organization in response to a changing environment. Supports the fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide an organization. A sound strategic plan can help define and focus the efforts of a distributor to transfer the company in the right direction, with the best methods.
Show Me the Value

I can not stress enough that the true value of a strategic plan is the document itself. E 'in the process of creating it, which involves many of your employees from the bottom upwards. This allows them to be the best informed and most effective leaders, managers and decision makers. Creating a culture that embraces empowerment and working together as a team is probably the most effective way to create success. More people work together and take ownership of long-term objectives of the unit over and teamwork becomes a direct path to success.

From time to time I am told by previous customers that the real value they received from the strategic planning process is the personal development of members of the team strategy and the involvement of the entire company working together as a team in a team environment . The results seemed almost automatic.

Disability is not unity, a common vision and shared ownership of the Plan

The strategic planning team to create a culture that is necessary for success. Working together effectively is not automatic. It takes a specific effort and the development of a culture that is supported by executive management. Shared experiences create unity and value. The transfer of knowledge is essential for an organization to grow. Without knowledge transfer and sharing of experiences of planning is difficult for the group to share the vision and work toward common goals. More importantly, without the experience of strategic planning is much more difficult for employees to work together in such a way that brings out the best in each other and the entire management team.

Create a dynamic force

There is a natural occurrence for employees to stop thinking of each other as competitors and start working as a team. It 's much more difficult to achieve than it sounds. However, it is a natural byproduct of the strategic planning process itself. More importantly, fills a vital necessity if you want to create or maintain a competitive advantage in their business.

The value of strategic planning include:

2. The strategic planning process allows the development of more creative solutions, because it harnesses the creativity and innovation of all members of the team's strategy. When team members bounce ideas off each other, arrive at solutions that can never surfaced only. Seeing things from different perspectives is invaluable when it comes to personal leadership development.

3. Commitment to ideas and projects become an interesting element of the process as employees take ownership of initiatives. When employees are involved in a project from the beginning, are more likely to be committed to the ideals it represents. They also developed the unique ability to pass that excitement, commitment and ownership throughout the organization.

4. The strategic planning process using strategists CEO owner of the team that starts with the owner / CEO End Game and allows the team to develop the roadmap without being intimidated by the presence of the CEO creates empowerment for the whole group, which includes focus on process, the discipline and responsibility for the implementation of the "End Game -.
