U.S. Will a Mormon president?

The Mormon Mitt Romney has been a major sensation in internal elections that are to nominate the Republican candidate for the presidential elections of November 4. Of the four states that have voted, he has gained widely in the last two (Wyoming and Michigan) and finished second in the first two (Iowa and New Hampshire).

Within the ruling party Romney represents the economic conservatives who want to reduce taxes, while his two main rivals are Mike Huckabee, who won in Iowa and expresses the evangelical right and social conservative, and John McCain, a "moderate? Bush rival who won New Hampshire and has more capacity than its other comrades to reach voters Democrats or Independents.

The millionaire Romney is a candidate that more money is getting into the most expensive election campaign in human history. He, in turn, shows efficiency in organizing the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City (Mormon capital) or to have been governor of Massachusetts in 2003-2007.

Romney's multiple positions (opposition to abortion and gay marriage, and support for the death penalty and the current strategy in Iraq) in tune with the religious right, although many believe that Mormons are not Christians and Huckabee that accuses them postulate that Lucifer and Jesus are brothers.

Religion in the U.S.

Although he tries not to talk much about their faith (the same as is practiced by only 2% of Americans) he is a person closely linked to the church in which their ancestors participated in its foundation.

U.S. is an industrialized country where religion has more. There, all presidents have been Protestants, except the Catholic Kennedy. While Republicans always postulate plates with Protestants, Democrats have had three Catholic candidates for president (Smith 1928, Kennedy 1960 and Kerry 2004) and a Jewish vice-presidential (Lieberman 2000).

There has never been a Mormon as president of any country. Romney's father ran unsuccessfully in the Republican internal 1968. The founder of their church, Joseph Smith (born 1805) candidateó for the U.S. presidency in 1844 promoting a "democratic theocracy?. However, he was murdered that year by a mob took him from jail where he was for having ordered the destruction of the press dissident movement.

Mormonism

1827-1830 Smith said he had found and translated the "Book of Mormon, a New Testament which says that Jesus revived in the Americas and tells a detailed history of this continent, according to which all its original inhabitants ( as well as in Polynesia) and Israel are descended from them before the arrival of Europeans raised horses, cows and lambs and became Jews or Christians.

While all subsequent scientific evidence concluded that the Indians and Polynesians have no Semitic in their genes, culture, languages, architecture, crafts, calligraphy or agricultural products, Mormons believe blindly in their faith, it is one of Today the fastest growing proportionately in the world.

Today they number more than 13 million around the globe and temples can be found everywhere. They proclaim themselves "the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day?, Worship three other religious texts besides the Bible, Jesus and Jehovah conceive are the same, preach the baptism of the dead and the marriage up the afterlife, and do not use the cross.

Until 1890-1904 the ancestors of Mormons and polygamy encouraged Romney to 1978 they vetoed that blacks exercise the priesthood. They have a living prophet who usually manages to be upgrading their beliefs and to have all its

young missionary service must provide a mandatory two years, thanks to which religions are one of the most money and is attracting followers.

While Romney did not achieve the official nomination of the Republicans, its current good performance is a great incentive for the influence of this cult in the mega-power and the world.
