Introduction About Depression


INTRODUCTION Depression, the most widespread disease of our time, is the disorder that leads to greater disability in the world and seems to get worse in the future, and is also a leading cause of mortality. People with depression are at greater risk of violating their lives at a rate 30 times higher than the general population. Depression is characterized by a disturbance of mood in which the person appears to be tied to the suffering, unable to part with him. All of us have ever had the feeling of being depressed, because at some point in life we ​​have felt dejected, sad, unhappy, rejected, with feelings of unworthiness and guilt, because we have lost something important in our lives or simply because the circumstances of life lead us to look to the future without hope. Human beings must face continuing difficulties in a life full of contrasts and complexities that leads us to incur feelings of disappointment, sadness and apathy that accompany risk situations, where even self-destructive behaviors may appear conceal underlying suicidal wishes. The ideal state is not the absence of trouble but to live with intensity and good and bad experiences with sufficient strength and face the challenge imposed on us by life.

Depression not only concerns the person suffering but also has an impact on his family. Once installed, the depression, we altered the emotional life, professional, labor, social, sexual and physical health. Includes symptoms such as sadness, irritability, crying, guilt, distraction, indecision, impaired memory, concentration, motivation, isolation, sleep disturbance, weight, appetite and sexuality, perception that the problems are overwhelming, suicidal ideation, passivity, inertia, difficulty in social relationships, dependency, loss of motivation and ability to enjoy and pursue happiness. Everyone is exposed to go through a depression or being around someone who is well, hence the importance of understanding and an accurate diagnosis and treatment and efficient, to inform us about it and be able to recognize in ourselves the presence of depressive symptoms, their severity and impact on our lives and how we enjoy or suffer the reality, to make some efforts within our reach if the situation permits, or to achieve a professional prompt attention. Just seeing depression as a totality we try to understand, confront and overcome and always within the unique history and unique for each of us, because obviously some people become depressed more easily than others to the same circumstances.
